After back-to-back games at Park Hall, we’re on the road this Saturday (October 10), as we play Pen-y-Bont FC at the SDM Glass Stadium.

The JD Cymru Premier MD8 fixture – which marks the one-quarter stage of the season – sees The New Saints going into the game with a 100% record after five played.

Currently in second spot, but with a game in hand, the perfect start has seen twenty-one goals scored and none conceded.

Rhys Griffiths’ Pen-y-Bont are enjoying a good start to the 2020/2021 campaign themselves, as they occupy fourth position, aided and abetted by three straight wins.

In their latest victory – 4-0 on the road at Haverfordwest County – Griffiths himself scored two of the goals. Coming off the bench, the Welsh footballing legend proved that life most certainly does begin at forty, although it’s true to say he’s had a pretty impressive career up till now as well!

Founded in 2013, as the result of a merger between Bridgend Town and Bryntirion Athletic FC, the Bont were promoted to the top flight of Welsh football last season.

With their debut campaign ending prematurely – due to the Covid-19 situation – they survived the drop by finishing three points ahead of Carmarthen Town.

As league positions were decided by PPG (points per game), it was Pen-y-Bont’s 0.84 against the Old Gold’s 0.72 that ultimately secured their place at the top table this time round.

The game on Saturday has a 2.30 p.m. kick-off time.
