Tomorrow, Saturday October 3, we welcome JD Cymru Premier new boys, Flint Town United, to Park Hall for the MD6 encounter.
Relegated from the top-flight of Welsh football – then known as the League of Wales – at the end of the 1997/1998 season, this will be the first league game between the sides since October 1997, when TNS won 1-0.
With two wins from their opening three games this time round, the Silkmen got off to a good start. However, following back-to-back defeats, they currently find themselves in sixth place.
Their last game, along the north Wales coast against Caernarfon Town, saw a late goal from Richie Foulkes as nothing more than a consolation come the final whistle, as they ended up on the wrong end of a 2-1 final score.
With the likes of Nathan Craig, Wes Baynes, Rob Hughes and the recent acquisition of Les Davies, Saturday’s visitors have signalled their intent that they’re not in the JD Cymru Premier to merely make up the numbers.
The New Saints goes into the game following consecutive away trips to the Oval and Maes Tegid. The former resulted in a 4-0 victory against Caernarfon Town, while the outcome in the Bala match is unsure at the moment due to floodlight failure, with the FAW due to deliver their verdict this coming Monday.
