Tomorrow (Sunday, November 24, 2019), Simon Smith’s U-19s travel to Flintshire, as they go head-to-head with Mynydd Isa Spartans in the FAW Youth Trophy.

Both sides find themselves in the third round courtesy of scoring six goals in their previous games in the competition. The New Saints beat Rhyl 6-1 at Park Hall, while the Spartans were victorious on the road at Newcastle Emlyn, registering a convincing 6-2 victory.

Speaking during the week, acknowledging the unfamiliar opponent, Simon Smith commented “We will do our homework and we’ve got scouts who have watched a few of their games.” Although The New Saints will go into the game as strong favourites, Smith added: “We will make sure that we treat them with the right respect.”

“We’ve got to make sure that we go with there with a strong team and the right mindset to win,” concluded Simon, who has been in the position of heading up the U-19s since the summer.
