With The New Saints having returned from Park Avenue just five days previously, with a convincing 10-1 victory against Aberystwyth Town under their belt, it was Pen-y-Bont who took a shock lead in the 35th minute.

Kane Owen’s strike from outside the box hit the post before crossing the line, as the visitors went into the dressing room with a 1-0 lead.

Within thirteen minutes of the restart though, the two changes at the start of the second period combined to level the score, as a Simon Spender cross was met by the head of Aeron Edwards, who found the net at the far post.

In the 71st minute, the reigning champions were ahead, as a run from Adrian Cieslewicz led to him beating several players in the penalty area before finally unleashing a shot that beat the goalkeeper.

The remaining minutes witnessed both sides create chances, but come the final whistle, the 2-1 win saw The New Saints in third place with three wins from four games.
