For the second Saturday on the bounce, it’s southbound A483 for The New Saints of Oswestry Town, as we head once again to Latham Park, on April 6, 2019.
This time round though it’s back to JD Welsh Premier League action, with Newtown AFC the hosts, following last weekend’s JD Welsh Cup victory against Barry Town United.
Going into the game on the back of an impressive 7-0 victory at Maes Tegid, The New Saints (at the time of writing) sits four points clear at the top of the table. That could change though, come the game, as Connah’s Quay Nomads travel to the north Wales coast the day before (Friday, April 5), as they play Caernarfon Town.
A free-scoring season so far for Scott Ruscoe’s side has seen a total of 85 goals scored, which is an average of 3.03 per game. At the other end, the meanest defence in the league has been breached just 15 times in 28 fixtures, ensuring a very healthy average of just 0.53 conceded.
The goal difference of 70 is greater than all the other sides with a plus figure combined, which is 65. When you take into account that Connah’s Quay Nomads themselves are on plus 42, it shows just how impressive the statistic is.
Newtown AFC find themselves in fourth place in the JD Welsh Premier League and although they have lost to both of the top two sides in recent weeks, they have picked up maximum points against Caernarfon Town (3-2) and Barry Town United (3-0).
The game kicks off at 2.30 p.m. and we look forward to seeing our excellent travelling support out in force again.
