With The New Saints of Oswestry Town currently one point ahead of Connah’s Quay Nomads at the top of the JD Welsh Premier League (JD WPL), the fixture against Bala Town is the opportunity to extend that lead to four.

With a game in hand at present, three points at Maes Tegid would put The New Saints very much in the driving seat as far as an eight consecutive JD WPL title is concerned.

However, as always, The Lakesiders will provide formidable opposition. Although Colin Caton’s side registered an impressive 2-0 victory at Jenner Park a couple of weeks back, their 2019 has not been what they would have wanted.

Seven other JD WPL games have seen one draw and six defeats, including a 3-1 reversal at Park Hall in the last league game for both sides, on March 22.

The game on Wednesday, April 3 2019, has a 7.45 p.m. kick-off time.
