The New Saints Women succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at The Rock against Wrexham, in a tough day in the Genero Adran Premier.

Carra Jones netted a brace and Rosie Hughes found the back of the net for the Red Dragons to get the three points, while Helen Evans got a late consolation for The New Saints.

The result leaves The Saints sitting sixth in the Adran Premier table on seven points.

In the first few seconds of the game, Wrexham had an opportunity through Amber Lightfoot from outside the box that went inches wide of the post.

A little while later, Helen Evans had a free-kick for The New Saints from 35-yards away that narrowly went over the crossbar. 

In the 22nd minute, the Red Dragons took the lead, as Lightfoot played a through ball to Carra Jones, who slotted it past Mackenzie Haydn-Jones’ bottom-right from close-range.

Greg Draper’s team almost hit back soon after in the 25th minute, where Caitlin Chapman played a through ball to Emily Ridge, who shot from just outside the box, and Del Morgan dived down to make the save.

Wrexham were back on the attack later on in the half, as Haydn-Jones made a great save from close-range to deny a Lightfoot effort from inside the penalty area.

In the 41st minute, Chapman played in a corner ball to Izzy Redding, who had a header that went into the gloves of Del Morgan.

At the start of the start of the second forty-five, Chapman had an attempt for The New Saints from just outside the 18-yard-area that Morgan managed to catch.

In the 53rd minute, Wrexham took a two-goal lead through a Rosie Hughes shot that went over Haydn-Jones and into the net from 25-yards out.

The home team took a 3-0 lead in the 69th minute, as Mari Gibbard played a pass through to Carra Jones, who netted a brace in the box past Haydn-Jones.

Draper’s side got a consolation goal late on through an Evans free-kick from 35-yards out that went in off the post.
