Swansea snatch the points with last gasp-goal at Park Hall

The New Saints Women suffered a late blow in the Genero Adran Premier at Park Hall Stadium, as Swansea City scored in the sixth minute of added on time to come out on top 2-1 and claim all three points.

After a quiet first forty-five, the Swans took the lead mid-way in the second-half through a Stacey John-Davis strike, but The New Saints got level late on thanks to an Ella Hartley wonder finish. Chris Church’s team then got the winner in dramatic fashion, as Robyn Pinder found the back of the net in the sixth minute of injury time.

Sunday’s result leaves Greg Draper’s team now sitting fifth in the table.

The first opportunity of the game came in the seventh minute for Swansea City, as Stacey John-Davis had a shot from distance that narrowly went wide of the post.

Just past the half-hour mark the Swans came close once more, where Chloe Chivers whipped in a free-kick that was temporarily cleared, with the ball falling to Katy Hosford, but Swansea’s skipper fired wide.

Before half-time, Tia Lockley had an opportunity from a Caitlin Chapman corner, however the centre-half’s effort went over the crossbar from the edge of the box.

After the break, The New Saints were on the front foot through Chantelle Teare, who had an opportunity from 20-yards out, but it went over the net.

Before the hour, Hosford had a close effort from 25-yards away for the visitors, with the ball going inches wide of the net.

Chris Church’s side did take the lead in the 63rd minute. Nieve Jenkins played a pass into the penalty area, with John-Davis converting at the near post from close-range.

It was almost two for the Swans a little while later. Hosford crossed in a ball that found Jenkins, who had a header inches off target.

The Saints turned the tables around with a dramatic leveller in the 84th minute through an Ella Hartley screamer from 25-yards out that went in off the the crossbar.

It wasn’t the end of the action, as in the sixth minute of added time, Alicia Powe played a over-the-top-ball to substitute, Robyn Pinder, who chested the ball down and netted past Mackenzie Haydn-Jones from inside the 18-yard-area.
