The New Saints Women succumbed to a 5-2 loss at Park Hall Stadium against Swansea City in the Genero Adran Premier.

Chloe Chivers was the difference maker as she netted four goals for Swansea – all from outside the box, with the other goal coming from Eilish Mitchell.

The New Saints’ goals in the match came from Tiggy Webb and Chantelle Teare.

Sunday’s result means the Saints stay on 23 points in fourth in Adran Premier.

Swansea City started off brightly, as the South Wales team took the lead in the third minute,  when a thunderous 30-yard free-kick from Chloe Chivers went in off the crossbar.

There was an equaliser for The New Saints in the 8th minute thanks to a good Tiggy Webb goal that went into Amelia Forkings’ bottom-left corner following a Kelsey Richardson corner.

Swansea returned to the front foot moments after the restart, as Kay Baker blocked and cleared away a shot from Chivers.

In the 15th minute, Chivers was on the front foot once more, as she played a through ball to Aimee Deacon, who had an effort Inside the 18-yard area, which was saved brilliantly by West Bromwich Albion loanee, Orla Howard.

Howard was called into action once again moments on, as Stacey John whipped in a cross that found Deacon, and the forward shot from close-range, however was denied by another great save from the 18-year-old goalkeeper.

The Swans regained the lead in the 22nd minute, when another powerful free-kick from Chivers, this time from 35-yards, went into Howard’s bottom-left corner.

It was the Saints that went on the attack shortly after kick-off. A Richardson set-piece was whipped into the six-yard area, and was headed towards goal by skipper, Lia Lewis, but the attempt just went wide of the post.

Lewis got another shot away past the half-hour mark, when the ball was struck from a few yards out that got saved well by Forkings.

Swans went 3-1 up shortly before the break, as Chivers completed her hat-trick. The number 10 looped in an effort from 30-yards away that went over Howard and into the net.

Saints got a goal back shortly into the second-half. A good through ball from Lexie Harrison found Chantelle Teare at the front of the attack and the number nine struck the shot successfully into the top of the net.

Past the hour, Richardson crossed in a corner that was palmed away by Forkings, before the rebound effort by Kay Baker was collected by the goalkeeper.

Richardson seeked an equaliser for the hosts in the 66th minute, as the number shot from 20-yards, however the ball was caught by Forkings.

Howard made an unbelievable double save to keep Swans at three in the 77th minute. Firstly, the number 13 denied an outside the box, and then stopped a Deacon shot from point-blank range.

The visitors did get a fourth in the 79th minute, as a Chivers free-kick from outside the box was palmed away really well by Howard, but Eilish Mitchell was quickest to react and headed the the rebound home.

Teare had a chance to get TNS back into the match in the 87th minute, but was saved by Forkings.

Chivers got a fifth goal at the end other of the pitch for Swans in added-on-time, when another fine strike from long-range went over Howard and into the top corner of the goal.

That was the end of game, with TNS next in action in two week’s time (March 15th) at The Rock against Wrexham in the Adran Premier.
