The New Saints Women started phase two of the Genero Adran Premier in winning fashion with a 2-0 victory over Cardiff Met at Park Hall Stadium.
Both goals came in either half through a Helen Evans header and an Emily Ridge strike.
Sunday’s result moves The New Saints up to 20 points in the Adran Premier Championship Conference.
The New Saints had two chances at the start of the game in the third minute. Caitlin Chapman had a shot from outside the box that went wide, before Dani Staley hit an effort from 20-yards away which Amelia Forkings gathered.
Cardiff Met had their first attempt in the 15th minute, as Amy Long hit a deflected strike from outside the penalty area that Sarah Parkes met with a fine save.
The Saints took the lead in the 25th minute. Chapman whipped in corner and found Evans, who headed it in from close range.
Moments on, the Archers had a chance to level, as Tija Richardson had a header that went over the crossbar.
In the 35th minute, Evie Williams had a strike from outside the box which just went wide of the post.
Three minutes on, Sophie Hancocks took a free-kick that drifted away from Parkes’ left post with Met failing to trouble the TNS back line.
Before half-time, Dani Staley had a good volley effort from 25-yards away with the shot just going off target.
In a very quiet second 45, the Oswestry outfit had a chance in the 70th minute. Chapman put in a corner that found Georgie Gresham, who shot over the Met net from within the box.
TNS took a two goal lead in the 85th minute, as Evans played a through ball to Emily Ridge, where the number 35 netted past Forkings in the 18-yard area to secure the victory and three points.
Greg Draper’s team are in action next Sunday (March 5) against Cardiff City at Park Hall in the Adran Premier.
