The New Saints Women suffered a 6-0 loss at home to Genero Adran Premier defending champions, Cardiff City, of what was a tough afternoon at Park Hall Stadium.

Megan Bowen netted in the first-half, before Eliza Collie, Seren Watkins, Molly Kehoe, Madison Lloyd, and Tija Richardson all scored in the second 45.

The result means The New Saints stay fourth in the Adran Premier table.

Cardiff City came close to taking the lead in the 22nd minute, as skipper, Siobhan Walsh had a header from a corner that forced Mackenzie Haydn-Jones into a save, with the referee calling for a foul in the box during the process of the corner.

The Bluebirds took the lead in the 25th minute when a scramble in the box from a corner led to Megan Bowen managing to get a shot away for the visitors that went into the bottom-left corner.

On the half-hour mark, City were on the attack once again, as Ffion Price had a shot from range that narrowly went wide.

Iain Darbyshire’s side had another effort in the 38th minute, where Bowen headed wide from a corner.

Seconds on, Haydn-Jones made a great save to keep out Cayman Islands international, Molly Kehoe, who had a shot from outside the box.

In the 40th minute, Haydn-Jones made another fantastic stop to this time keep out Emma Beynon from not far out.

At the first few minutes in the second 45, Price had a shot from outside the box that went over the crossbar.

The Bluebirds got a second goal in the 62nd minute, after The Saints gave away the ball at the back, Eliza Collie netted from close range.

In the 70th minute, Chantelle Teare brought down Beynon, and Seren Watkins netted the following penalty.

A fourth came for the away team in the 74th minute, as Hollie Smith delivered a ball into the area that found Kehoe in the box, who netted from close range.

There was a fifth in the 82nd minute for the Bluebirds, with Madison Lloyd netting inside the box past Haydn-Jones’ bottom-right corner.

A final goal for City came in added on time, as Tija Richardson scored from point-blank range after a fight for the ball in the 18-yard-area.
