The New Saints Women suffered a 2-1 defeat against Briton Ferry Llansawel at Park Hall Stadium in the Genero Adran Premier Championship Conference.

An Alice Broadley own goal gave The New Saints a 1-0 lead at the break, before Briton Ferry’s Lowri Ridings and Laura-May Walkley turned the game around in the second 45.

Sunday afternoon’s result means The Saints go down to fourth in the Championship Conference table.

In the opening exchanges of the encounter, Alice Broadley had a shot from outside the box for Briton Ferry Llansawel that drifted wide.

Another chance came for the visitors moments on, as Alison Witts had a shot from close-range which went over the crossbar.

In the 13th minute, The New Saints had their first chance of the match, when former Swansea City  player, Kelsey Thomas, hit a shot from inside the box that was palmed away by Courtney Young.

The Saints took a 1-0 lead soon after in the 15th minute, as Molly Havard crossed the ball into the six yard-area, and the ball fell to Broadley, who headed the ball into her own net.

The Genero Adran Trophy champions were on the attack again soon later through a Havard shot inside the box that was saved by Young.

Not long into the second 45 of the game, Briton Ferry were awarded a penalty, Megan Bowen brought down Maia Owen in the 18-yard-area and the referee pointed to the spot. Seconds later, Bowen became the hero, as the 16-year-old denied Witts.

Past the hour mark, Wales international, Maria Francis-Jones, hit a free-kick from 30-yards out for Saints that narrowly went over the crossbar.

In the 66th minute, Jade Crofts ran through on goal for Ferry up the other end of the pitch, but Bowen was there to make the stop.

Ferry equalised seconds after Jess Denscombe crossed a ball into the box that found the skipper, Lowri Ridings, who headed the ball from in from close distance.

The 2023/24 Genero Adran South winners took the lead in the 85th minute, as Laura-May Walkley struck an effort from 30-yards out, and the ball went all the way into the net.

Right at the end of the game, TNS had a chance to equalise, when a corner into the box found Tiggy Webb, and the centre-half shot from close-range, but the attempt was stopped by Young.
