Points shared at Park Hall, as Saints Women draw with Briton Ferry Llansawel

The New Saints Women and Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies both claimed a point in a 1-1 draw at Park Hall Stadium in the Genero Adran Premier.

Alison Witts gave Briton Ferry Llansawel the lead, before The New Saints equalised later on in the first-half through Molly Havard.

Briton Ferry goalkeeper, Courtney Young, received a red card in the second-half, but it was not to make a difference, as the game finished all-square.

The result means The Saints stay fourth in the Adran Premier table on seven points.

Early on in the game, the visitors had a header in the box that didn’t trouble Becca Elliott, as the effort drifted wide.

The New Saints had a first strike on goal in the 22nd minute, when Molly Havard had an effort from range that narrowly went off target.

Another Saints effort at the Ferry net came a few minutes on, as a 25-yard Helen Evans strike drifted wide.

Briton Ferry Llansawel were the side that took the lead just past the half hour in the 32nd minute. Maia Owen played a pass across the box that found Alison Witts, who’s initial effort from point-blank range hit the crossbar, before the follow-up was scored by the number 14.

The Saints were up the other end of the pitch in the 35th minute, as Havard had attempt from range that was collected by Courtney Young.

Shauna Duffy’s team did find a goal before the break, as Grace Dunkerley played a ball across to Havard, who’s shot from the edge of the box went past young’s bottom-left and into the net.

A few minutes into the second 45, Elliot denied Ferry through a fine save that stopped a Witts chance inside the box.

Briton Ferry were down to ten players before the hour mark, as Young took out Chantelle Teare on the edge of the penalty area, leaving the referee with no choice, but to go to his pocket, and the Ferry keeper was given her marching orders.

Following the foul, Havard had a free-kick from outside the 18-yard area that narrowly went over the crossbar.

Ferry went on the front foot in the 67th minute, where former Cardiff City player, Tija Richardson, had an effort from close distance that hit the side netting. 

With 15 minutes to play, Havard whipped in a corner into the box that found Evans, who had a header that was caught by substitute, Olivia Kett-White.

The last big opportunity came not too long before the end, as Teare hit the crossbar from the edge of the box.
