The New Saints Women maintained their perfect start to the season with a 3-1 win against Briton Ferry Llansawel at Park Hall Stadium.
Briton Ferry initially took the lead through Maizie Stiens, before The New Saints turned the match around thanks to goasl from Fiona Barry, Chantelle Teare, and Hannah Snape.
Sunday afternoon’s victory means The Saints move up to 18 points, and remain top of the table after making it a sixth consecutive win.
It was Briton Ferry that grabbed the first goal in the encounter, as corner ball led to a scramble in the box that was converted by 15-year-old, Maizie Steins.
The visitors thought they doubled their lead two minutes later, when Steins slotted the ball past Mackenzie Haydn-Jones from inside the box, but the flag went up for offside.
In the 14th minute, former Swansea City player, Katy Hosford, had a header that went towards goal, but it was cleared well off the line by Kay Baker.
The New Saints found an equaliser in the 22nd minute, as Chantelle Teare played a ball across the box to Fiona Barry, who slotted the ball into an empty net at the back post for the 20-year-old’s 11th goal of the campaign.
Olivia Kett-White almost restored Ferry’s lead just before the half hour mark, as a shot from distance almost leaped over Haydn-Jones on the bounce, however the goalkeeper managed to palm the attempt over the crossbar.
Shortly into the second 45, Steins had an effort from outside the box for Ferry that Haydn-Jones managed to save.
The Saints took the lead in the 59th minute, as Caitlin Chapman plays a cross through to Teare, who scored at the back post.
Not long later in the 62nd minute, Abbie Iddenden tried an audacious effort from long-range that Courtney Young managed to catch.
Saints attacked once more in the 69th minute, when Barry played a cross, and Chapman leaped across the six-yard area, but unfortunately could not get a connection.
Kieran Lee-Birch’s team managed to make it 3-1 in the 71st minute, as Hannah Snape powered a free-kick into Young’s bottom-right corner from 30-yards away.
Laura-May Walkley-Witts hit a shot from range that deflected safely into the hands of Haydn-Jones
In the 78th minute, Nieve Rowbottom took down substitute, Jade Crofts, in the box and the referee pointed to the spot for Ferry. In the following moments, Katy Hosford stepped up and shot 12-yards out, but Haydn-Jones made a fine save to the bottom-left.
Not long after Georgia Howells hit a free-kick for the visitors that went inches over the crossbar.
That proved to be the final significant action, as the Adran Premier league leaders collected another three points.
TNS are next in action against Cardiff City at Cardiff International Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 18th.
