Saints fly past Wingmakers in the FAW Women’s Cup

The New Saints Women started their campaign in the FAW Women’s Cup with a 12-0 victory over Airbus UK Broughton at Park Hall Stadium.

The goals came from a Caitlin Chapman hat-trick, braces from Chantelle Teare and Lexie Harrison with Dani Staley, Beth Lewis, Lucie Platt, Lily Whitefoot and Lia Lewis getting the others.

It was a one-sided affair throughout, as Andy Williams’ team dominated the Adran North side.

The New Saints went off to a flying start in the fifth minute when Caitlin Chapman hit the ball from the outside of the box and it went into the top corner of Ruby Stevens’ net.

In the 9th, Chantelle Teare had a strike from close range that just went wide of the post.

It was two for The Saints in the 14th minute. Lexie Harrison was brought down in the box, as the referee pointed to the spot. Lewis then netted the follow up penalty.

Before the half hour mark, Teare had a strike from 5-yards away that Stevens saved.

On the 30th minute it was three for the home side. After a Chapman corner, the ball found Izzy Reading who headed the ball down to Lucie Platt, as the no.10 struck home from point blank range.

A fourth came ten minutes later when Dani Staley chipped Stevens from outside the penalty area.

It was almost a fifth in first-half stoppage time, however Harrison had a penalty saved by Stevens.

Harrison did get her goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Teare had an attempt that Stevens stopped and Harrison hit home on the rebound.

After the half-time break it was six. Teare went round Stevens in the box and slotted home from a tight angle.

A brace for Teare came a couple of minutes, when Chapman crossed a ball in and the no.9 tapped it home.

There were two goals in the 67th minute. The First one happened when Teare played a through ball to Harrison who got a brace when the no.6 tucked the ball home into the corner. Substitute Lily Whitefoot then got her first goal for the team seconds later. A shot in the box went in off the crossbar, a shot that no keeper would be able to stop.

It was number ten in the 75th. Lia Lewis netted a goal from 25-yards after she caught Stevens off her line and chipped the keeper.

The eleventh came for Chapman in the 79th when Nicole Samson whipped a ball in which the Northern Ireland forward tapped in.

There was one final goal for TNS in the 90th minute when Chapman scored a hat-trick, as she hit the ball past Stevens.
