Saints off the mark in the Genero Adran Premier with a first win of the season at Park Hall

The New Saints climbed up the Genero Adran Premier table to sixth with a first three points of the league campaign against Aberystwyth Town at Park Hall Stadium.

Dani Staley got the first goal in first-half stoppage time, Chantelle Tear then got her first one on her debut at the start of the second forty-five. Staley then got a brace later on in the half to seal a 3-0 victory.

Andy Williams’ team dominated throughout the majority of the game and were well deserving of all the points.

The Oswestry based-side are now three points clear of recently promoted Abergavenny, who are at the foot of the standings after three games.

The first chance came for The New Saints in the 8th minute, Caitlin Chapman took a corner, that almost caught out the Aberystwyth defence as the ball hit the far post and was then cleared.

Before the half hour mark, Aber captain Kelly Thomas delivered a free-kick in that found a Seasider player in the box that headed at goal from close range, but Sarah Parkes was there to make the catch.

The Saints took the lead in third minute of first-half stoppage time. Skipper Beth Lewis delivered in a set piece from outside the box that found Dani Staley. at the back post who netted from point blank range to get her first competitive goal in a TNS shirt.

It was a second for Andy Williams’ team at the start of the second forty-five. Chapman had a shot within the 18-yard area, which Elen Valentine failed to collect and the ball ended up at the feet of Chantelle Teare who scored into an empty net on her debut.

In the 57th minute, Amy Jenkings had a 35-yard attempt for Gavin Allen’s Seasiders which Parkes caught.

TNS were back on the attack in the 64th, Teare played a ball across the box to Staley who had an effort that Valentine stopped.

Staley got a brace in the 71st as Chapman squared a pass across goal that found the no.8 who struck home from close range.

Ten later Staley almost got a hat-trick when a through ball for played to the winger who just chipped the attempt from outside the box over the Aber goal.

It was almost four in added time when former Seasiders player Helen Evans had an effort in the box that just went wide of the goal.

Andy Williams’ side will next be in action away at the Pen-Y-Pound stadium at Abergavenny next Sunday (October 2nd).
