The New Saints made it four wins from four in the Novira Cymru Premier after defeating Colwyn Bay 5-1 at Park Hall.

It was a superb first-half performance from Craig Harrison’s side, who found themselves three ahead at the break thanks to a Josh Lock brace and Rhys Hughes’ penalty.

Jordan Williams and Dominic Corness increased the advantage following the restart, before Nathan Peate scored a consolation for the visitors just after the hour mark.

It was a positive start from The New Saints, with the Novira Cymru Premier champions having a number of chances inside the opening 15 minutes.

First, Dan Williams called Mark Halstead into action from a corner, before Jordan Williams was denied by the goalkeeper at the near post.

With 25 minutes on the clock, the former Blackpool man was involved again, pulling off another important save low down to his left to keep out Jack Bodenham’s powerful header.

Just 60 seconds later though, the opening goal did eventually arrive, with Josh Lock the man on target.

He found space on the edge of the penalty area to collect the ball from Dan Williams, firing home at the first time of asking to make the score 1-0.

The Saints continued to dominate the half, and in the 38th minute, Lock was on target again.

Receiving the ball from Danny Redmond this time, the Academy graduate picked out the top corner with a superb strike from distance to put his side in complete control.

It got better yet for the hosts three minutes before the interval, as Rhys Hughes added a TNS third from the penalty spot.

Craig Harrison’s side picked up where they left off following the restart, adding a fourth of the night in the 50th minute.

Jordan Williams raced onto Danny Davies’ forward pass, before showing a superb piece of skill to lift the ball over the outrushing goalkeeper to get the second-half off to the best possible start.

Five minutes later, Dominic Corness got in on the act, making the score 5-0 in favour of The New Saints, curling home after a well-worked corner routine with captain Redmond.

Nathan Peate pulled a goal back for the visitors just after the hour mark following a scramble inside the penalty area, but the goal proved nothing more than a consolation when all was said and done.

Jordan Davies did have a couple of further chances for the Seagulls, but on both occasions, was unable to beat Nathan Shepperd in the TNS goal.

The final chance of the night arrived two minutes from time, as substitute Adam Davies sent a header onto Shepperd’s crossbar, but the ball bounced favourably for the home defence, and the danger was scrambled clear.

It ended 5-1 at Park Hall, with Harrison’s side making it four consecutive Novira Cymru Premier victories in the process.

The New Saints are back in action this coming Monday (August 31st), when they travel to The Oval to face Caernarfon Town. Kick-off is scheduled for 3pm.
