The New Saints put in a superb performance at Park Hall as they defeated newly-promoted Cambrian United 9-0.
The damage was done inside the opening 22 minutes, as Craig Harrison’s side were on target five times to take a commanding grip on the game.
There was no let-up from there either, with four more second-half goals securing an 11th consecutive league win.
It took The New Saints just seven minutes to make the breakthrough, and it was Academy graduate Josh Lock who grabbed the go-ahead goal.
After a good cross from Rory Holden, the number 34 swept the ball home from the edge of the six-yard box to get the afternoon off to the best possible start.
The hosts were certainly enjoying themselves in the early stages, and in the 14th minute they scored a quick-fire double.
Brad Young turned home Lock’s cross to score for a second consecutive game, before Rhys Hughes added the third less than 60 seconds later with a finish at the back post.
Sensationally, the Novira Cymru Premier champions were on target again in the 17th minute, as Rory Holden followed in Young’s powerful strike that was parried by goalkeeper Kelland Absalom.
It wasn’t long before a TNS fifth arrived courtesy of Hughes, who beat the defender Ashley Evans on the left of the penalty area and curled into the far corner.
The Saints’ spell of dominance brought five goals in 22 minutes, but thankfully for the visitors, things began to slow down after that point.
Despite a couple of chances, there were no further goals before the break, but just three minutes after the restart, the Saints were back on target.
After some good vision from Hughes to play the ball forward, Young beat the defender for pace to go one-on-one with the goalkeeper, before slotting home at the near post to add his name to the scoresheet for the second time in the game.
With 62 minutes on the clock, Holden grabbed his second of the afternoon, before substitute Isaac Jefferies made it 8-0 just two minutes later.
Things went from bad to worse for the visitors in the 77th minute, when substitute Josh Allen was sent off after a VAR review upgraded his yellow card to a red.
It left Liam Williams’ side down to ten men for the remaining 13 minutes, and unfortunately for them, the Saints were able to take advantage.
In the 86th minute, substitute Jordan Williams added yet another goal for the league leaders to seal a 9-0 victory.
The New Saints are back in action next Friday (October 9th) when they travel to another newly-promoted side in Holywell Town. Kick-off in that match is scheduled for 7:45pm.
