The New Saints Women succumbed to a 4-1 defeat against Swansea City Ladies in the Genero Adran Premier Championship Conference to keep The Saints fourth in the table.

Katy Hosford scored in the opening seconds of the encounter, before Lucie Platt equalised for The New Saints. The Swans then won the game through two Stacey John-Davis goals later in the first 45 and a second-half Monet Legall strike.

Sunday’s result means TNS stay on 20 points in the Adran Premier table.

Swansea City took the lead 29 seconds in. Nieve Jenkins played a through ball that found Katy Hosford, who scored past Libby Rubin’s left and scored into the far post.

The Swans came close to another in the seventh minute, as Stacey John-Davis had an effort from outside the box that hit the post.

Greg Draper’s team got an equaliser three minutes later. Chantelle Teare put in a cross that found Lucie Platt and the no.10 scored from point-blank range for a fourth Adran Premier goal this season.

The New Saints come dramatically close to taking the lead before the half hour mark. Swansea goalkeeper, Chelsea Herbert dropped the ball that led to an effort from Dani Staley, but the shot was then cleared off the line by Shaunna Jenkins.

Ceri Phillips’ side retook the lead in the the 35th when Katy Hosford passed to John-Davis and the 30-year-old got an attempt away in the penalty area that went into Rubin’s top right-hand corner of the net.

John-Davis got a brace in the 38th minute, as the winger chipped Rubin from 35-yards out.

In a very quiet second 45, Megan Saunders had a strike from outside the box in the 69th minute for the home side that went wide of the net.

A minute on, Teare went up the other end of the pitch and put the ball in the back of the net, but the flag went up for a supposed offside.

The Swans got a fourth in the 73rd minute, as Gwen Horgan played through Monet Legall, who scored off the post and into net from just inside the 18-yard area. It was the goal that confirmed defeat for TNS in south Wales.

Draper’s side are next in action against Cardiff City at Leckwith Stadium on Sunday, March 26th.
