The New Saints Women progressed to the quarter-finals of the Genero Adran Trophy following a 6-1 win at Jubilee Way against Caldicot Town.

Chantelle Teare scored a hat-trick, while The New Saints’ other goals came from Lexi Jones, Caitlin Chapman, and Lia Lewis.

Caldicot’s sole goal of the game came through Rianne Jones.

Early on in the match, Chantelle Teare had a shot from close distance that Caldicot Town goalkeeper, Abigail Footner, collected.

Another chance came soon, as Grace Dunkerley passed a ball across the box to Teare, who shot narrowly wide.

In the 25th minute, The New Saints were on the attack once more. A Maria Francis-Jones cross was palmed away by Footner, before Teare rattled the crossbar from six-yards out.

Moments on, The Saints were inches away again, as a ball was played into Dunkerley, who missed the goal from point-blank range.

Past the half-hour, Lexi Jones broke the deadlock for Shauna Duffy’s side. A shot from just outside the box flying past Footner, and into her top left corner.

The hosts levelled the game against the run of play in the 42nd minute, as Rianne Jones powered an effort over the top of Becca Elliott from inside the box.

Saints regained the lead moments after the restart, where Teare slotted the ball into the bottom-left of the net a few yards out.

Just before half-time, Caldicot nearly equalised. Skipper, Millie Pearce, had an attempt in the 18-yard area that Elliott managed to save.

Not long into the second 45, TNS had two chances in quick succession, as an initial great through ball from Francis-Jones found Teare, who shot from close-range, but was denied by Footner, before Jones missed the follow-up.

There was a third for the Oswestry team in the 52nd minute, where Teare had a shot, but was palmed away by the goalkeeper, before Caitlin Chapman scored into an open goal.

A fourth came just before the hour, when Dunkerley played a ball across the box that found Teare, who tucked it away for a brace.

Goal number five didn’t take too long to arrive, as it came in the 66th minute. TNS skipper, Lia Lewis, powered a shot into the net from inside the penalty area to make it 5-1.

There was still more to come ten minutes on, when Teare grabbed her hat-trick with an outside the box finish that deflected into the bottom-right corner.

Those in attendance at Jubilee Way were not far off a TNS seventh in the dying moments, with a Dunkerley effort smashing off the crossbar and away.

Duffy’s Saints’ next game is in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup second round at Llandudno on Sunday, November 17th.
