The New Saints FC Women lost a close contest on the Mid Wales coast at Park Avenue in a 1-0 defeat  against Aberystwyth Town Women’s FC.

In what was the only goal of the game, Gwenllian Jones slotted the ball past Sarah Parkes in the 56^th minute.

The result sees The New Saints remain bottom, but only two points behind Barry Town United Ladies.

In the opening couple of minutes, Caitlin Chapman had an opportunity in the Aber box that just went wide of the post.

In the 14^th minute, Bethan Roberts had a header for the Seasiders in the penalty area that went off target.

Two minutes later, Chapman had a chance from a free kick. The Northern Irish player had a free-kick from 25-yards out that went off target.

The Saints had another opportunity in the 21^st minute, Lia Lewis hit the ball from outside the 18-yard area as it went away from the home team’s goal.

Just before the half hour mark, Caroline Copper shot a 30-yard free-kick for Gavin Allen’s team which Sarah Parkes caught.

A few minutes on, Chapman ran in the box and shot which forced Ffion Ashman into a fine save to her bottom-left.

The last chance of the half came for the Seasiders in the 43^rd minute. Caroline Cooper took a free-kick from 20-yards out that deflected wide.

Into the second forty-five, the breakthrough came for the home team in the 56^th minute. Gwenllian Jones slotted the ball past Parkes in the box.

Past the hour mark, Georgia Griffiths got a chance away from just outside the 18-yard area that went wide of the Seasiders net.

In the 67^th minute, Chapman shot from a 25-yard free-kick which went just over the crossbar.

A couple on, Chapman had another chance in the Aber box that got blocked by a defender.

With just over 15 minutes to go, Seasiders substitute Hannah Pusey hit the ball from just outside the penalty area as the chance went over the crossbar.

The final good chance of the game came in the 89^th minute. Substitute Megan Lane had an opportunity from just outside that went away from the net and out for a goal-kick.

TNS will next be in action at Park Hall Stadium on Sunday (December 5^th).
