With the JD Cymru Premier phase one campaign wrapped up in style – with the 3-0 victory against Bala Town meaning The New Saints has a lead of sixteen points at the top of the table – the attention of the staff and players now turns to the JD Welsh Cup.
This Saturday (February 4), we travel to south Wales as we take on Cwmbran Celtic in the quarter-final tie that brings back memories from December 2018, when the sides met at Celtic Park in the same competition.
On that occasion, a Chris Seargeant hat-trick secured the third round victory (0-3) for Scott Ruscoe’s side. Looking back to the starting XI, only Adrian Cieslewicz, Blaine Hudson and Jon Routledge are current players, with just Ryan Brobbel from the bench.
Still at the club but in a coaching role, Chris Seargeant is joined by Greg Draper, Paul Harrison and Simon Spender who were all involved that day.
Now known as Avondale Motor Park Arena for sponsorship purposes, the game this Saturday has a 2.00 p.m. kick-off time. For anyone travelling to south Wales, the address is Henllys Way, Cwmbran. NP44 3FS.
The home side will be wearing green and white check shirts with white shorts and socks, while The New Saints will be in grey shirts, black shorts and socks.
The goalkeepers will be in burgundy/white/white and all-red respectively.
Alex McInch will referee the game and he will be assisted by Jordan Christopher and Cilan Thomas. Jordan Harman is the fourth official and John Davies the referee observer.
We look forward to your support on Saturday but, as always, if you’re not there in person you can follow the action on TNS Radio via our website/Facebook page.
