The New Saints Women continued their fantastic start in the Genero Adran Premier following a 9-1 win against Barry Town United at Park Hall Stadium.

Abbie Iddenden netted four, Lexi Jones got a brace, Lexie Harrison and Fiona Barry were also amongst the goals, with the other one of the nine an own goal.

It is The New Saints’ biggest ever home win in the Adran Premier.

It was a crazy start to the match as Abbie Iddenden scored within 22 seconds for The New Saints following a cross from captain, Caitlin Chapman, and Iddenden had a shot on goal that was saved by Molly Arnesen before the striker scored on the rebound.

The second goal came in the 4th minute, when a scramble in the box led to Iddenden scoring from point-blank range.

The third was a repeat of the first in the fifth minute, when the ball came into the box, and after multiple shots, Iddenden netted her hat-trick from point-blank range, the quickest hat-trick in the history of the Adran Premier – four minutes and one second.

A fourth came in the 9th minute as Lia Lewis played a cross into Lexi Jones who tapped the ball home.

Mid way through the first-half, Fiona Barry had a shot from 25 yards out that drifted wide of the post.

Lexie Harrison got the fifth in the 32nd minute, as the 24-year-old ran into the box and scored past Arnesen at the near post.

Barry got her name on the scoresheet in the 34th minute, as Chapman put a cross into the box that found the 20-year-old at the back post who slotted the ball into the net from point-blank range.

The visitors got a goal back in the 37th minute, when Niamh Duggan intercepted the ball and scored from 35 yards out.

Harrison almost added a seven for Kieran Lee-Birch’s team in the 39th minute, as she ran into the box and shot, but hit the side netting.

At the start of the second-half, Caitlin Chapman hit the post as the hosts pushed for another.

An eighth goal came in the 48th minute with an Iddenden shot from outside the box going on off the post.

With 20 minutes to go, Chantelle Teare got a shot off from inside the box that narrowly went wide as it hit the side netting.

It was 9-1 in the 74th minute, when the ball was whipped into the box, and Olivia Barnett hit the ball into her own net.

There was almost double digits in the 83rd minute when Barry had an effort from just inside the 18 yard area that hit the crossbar.

It was the end of the action as TNS secured a comfortable home victory.

The next match for Lee-Birch’s team is a trip to Aberystwyth Town next Sunday (September 20th) in the third round of fixtures in the Adran Premier.
