The New Saints Women are delighted to announce the signing of striker Fiona Barry, who joins the club following her departure from Cardiff City.

Having started her senior career at Bridgewater United, the 19-year-old arrives at Park Hall with a proven eye for goal and a track record of success.

During her time with the Bluebirds, she was a key figure in a hugely successful period for the club, helping the side lift the Genero Adran Premier title as well as two Bute Energy Welsh Cups.

Her time in the capital also saw Barry make two appearances in the UEFA Women's Champions League, first against Twente then later Athlone Town, further underlining the experience she brings at a young age. 

Across two seasons, the forward made 51 appearances for Cardiff City, finding the net an impressive 26 times, averaging a goal every other game.

Speaking after securing the signing, head coach Kieran Lee-Birch said: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured the signing of Fiona.

“She’s regarded as one of the most talented players in the Genero Adran Premier and is a real match winner. 

“A powerful attacking player who can travel and drive with the ball, she makes good runs into the box and will score and create lots of goals for us this season. 

“After speaking with Fiona, it’s clear to me that we have also signed a fantastic person who is young, hungry and ambitious.”

Following her arrival at Park Hall, Fiona said: "I'm really excited to be joining The New Saints. Having spoken to the coaching staff about the club's ambitions, I could tell straight away this was the right next step for me. 

“I've been lucky enough to win trophies and play in Europe with Cardiff, and I want to bring that same winning mentality here. I can't wait to meet my new teammates and get started."
