The New Saints are delighted to announce the return of striker Brad Young who arrives at Park Hall on a permanent transfer from Caernarfon Town.
Initially signing for The New Saints in September 2023 following his departure from Aston Villa, Young made an immediate impression on Welsh football, scoring an incredible 31 goals in 36 appearances.
It was a goalscoring return that proved instrumental in the club securing both the JD Cymru Premier title and Nathaniel MG Cup, as well as reaching the finals of both the JD Welsh Cup and the SPFL Trust Trophy in the 2023/24 season.
The striker also played a pivotal role as the Saints made history by becoming the first side Welsh domestic side to qualify for the League Phase of the UEFA Conference League in August 2024.
Young was on the scoresheet twice in the emphatic 3-0 home UEFA Champions League victory against FK Dečić, before adding another goal in the away leg to help set his side on their way to another historic achievement.
His outstanding performances attracted significant interest, and in September 2024 the 23-year-old completed a record-breaking transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Orobah, with the $250,000 fee the largest transfer fee received by a club in Welsh domestic football.
After spending a year in Saudi Arabia, the former JD Cymru Premier Player of the Season moved on following his side’s relegation, making a further move in the Middle East to join FC Baniyas in the United Arab Emirates.
"I never stopped following The New Saints after I left, and if I'm being honest, a part of me always hoped I'd get the chance to come back,” Young said.
“This club gave me some of the best moments of my career and I'm hungry to create more. The fans have always been incredible with me and I can't wait to get back out there and repay that support. It’s a fresh start for me and I’m even more hungry than I’ve been to succeed.”
Head coach Craig Harrison was also pleased welcome Brad back to Park Hall and said: "We know exactly what Brad brings - his ability, his character, and the contribution he made in the season we reached the Conference League isn’t something you forget.
“We already have very good attacking options with Ben Wilson and Jordan Williams, but Brad gives us greater depth, more flexibility, and the ability to play different shapes and systems. At the end of the day, your strikers win you games - and now we've got real competition for places, which can only be a good thing.
“I have a great relationship with Brad. He works as hard as he is talented, and when the opportunity came up it was a no-brainer to bring him home.”
