The New Saints book their place in the JD Welsh Cup third round with a 16-0 victory over Llangollen Town

The New Saints booked their place in the third-round of the JD Welsh Cup following a 16-0 victory against Llangollen Town.

Nine different names were on the scoresheet for Craig Harrison’s side, who equaled the record for biggest-ever JD Welsh Cup win in the process.

Adam Wilson scored four of the goals, while Academy graduate, Tom Jones, also scored his first for the senior team at Park Hall.

It didn’t take long for the deadlock to be broken, as with less than two minutes on the clock, Declan McManus fired home from the edge of the six-yard box.

A TNS second arrived just 60 seconds later, as Danny Redmond raced onto the end of Ryan Brobbel’s over-the-top ball to poke past the goalkeeper.

In the 5th minute, Craig Harrison’s side added a third when McManus’ looping header drifted into the far corner.

With 16 minutes on the clock, Redmond bagged his second the game after a mazy run into the penalty area, before an Ash Baker header went in off the crossbar two minutes later.

Back from international duty, Adam Wilson made it 6-0 in the 20th minute, before Ryan Brobbel added a seventh 14 minutes before half-time.

Wilson then scored a quick-fire double in the 37th and 39th minutes to complete his hat-trick and make the score 9-0 to the JD Cymru Premier champions.

The goals quickly resumed after the break, as Blaine Hudson got in on the act with a header in the 48th minute.

Three minutes later, Wilson scored his fourth of the night with an effort from distance that unsighted the goalkeeper, before a TNS twelfth was scored by Brobbel in the 54th minute.

With 65 minutes on the clock, Baker got back among the goals, as he stabbed home from inside the six-yard box, before Josh Pask smashed home a Doforo cross to make it 14-0 three minutes later.

There was a first senior goal for substitute, Tom Jones, 14 minutes from time, before Sion Bradley rounded-off the scoring with TNS’ 16th goal in the 84th minute.

Despite chances for further goals in the final six minutes, Craig Harrison’s side were unable to find the elusive 17th goal, which would have seen them break the record for biggest-ever victory in the JD Welsh Cup.

Craig Harrison’s side are back in action next Thursday (October 24th), as they take on Kazakhstan’s Astana in the league phase of the UEFA Conference League.
