The New Saints continue the momentum with a 7-0 victory against Caernarfon Town

After discovering their UEFA Champions League opponents earlier in the day, The New Saints were back in friendly action tonight against fellow JD Cymru Premier side, Caernarfon Town.

Playing two separate teams in each half (only Connor Roberts played the full 90) it was another useful exercise for The Saints, as it afforded more valuable minutes for the majority of the first-team squad.

Picking up where they left off following victories against Gresford Athletic and 1874 Northwich at the weekend, it didn’t take Craig Harrison’s side long to find the net this time around either.

With eight minutes on the clock, Brad Young stroked the ball into the far corner from the edge of the penalty area to give the JD Cymru Premier champions the lead.

Less than 60 seconds later, Young had the ball in the back of the net again, as he took the ball around the goalkeeper and rolled into the empty net, before completing a sensational hat-trick in the game’s 13th minute.

In the 33rd minute, TNS almost grabbed a fourth goal, but after receiving the ball from Young on the edge of the six-yard-box, Dan Williams watched his effort bounce back off the post.

Four minutes later, the woodwork was rattled again, this time from Young, who was searching a fourth goal on the night.

Ten changes were made at the break, one of which included the introduction of Adrian Cieslewicz.

Just two minutes into the second-half, the Polish winger volleyed home from just inside the penalty area to make the score 4-0, before Declan McManus had a goal ruled out for offside with 52 minutes played.

McManus wasn’t to be denied in the 66th minute though, as his close-range header took a deflection off a Caernarfon defender and wrong-footed the goalkeeper.

In the 72nd minute, the Scottish striker scored his second and his side’s sixth from the penalty spot, after Matthew Olosunde was brought down inside the penalty area.

Two minutes from time, summer signing, Sion Bradley, found the back of the net against his former club with a well-taken first time finish, which rounded off the scoring, and ensured his new side left Park Hall with a 7-0 victory.
