The New Saints defeat 1874 Northwich in their second pre-season friendly

Match Report

Following a 13-2 victory against Gresford Athletic earlier in the day, The New Saints took to the field once again for more friendly action, this time against 1874 Northwich.

Much like the morning fixture, the team for the fist 60 minutes was made up of first-team regulars, before players from the club’s Academy set-up were introduced to close out the match.

It took 10 minutes for the deadlock to be broken, with Craig Harrison’s side scoring the game’s go-ahead goal.

Connecting with Dan Williams’ cross from the right, Adrian Cieslewicz struck the ball into the far corner at the first time of asking.

Just three minutes later, The Saints hit the target again, as Brad Young scored from the penalty spot after a foul on Jordan Williams.

In the 19th minute, Rory Holden added a TNS third with a superb curling strike from distance, giving his side a commanding early advantage.

Minutes later, Holden went better still, making the score 4-0 to the JD Cymru Premier champions, this time with a powerful strike across the face of goal.

With 26 minutes on the clock, Brad Young found the back of the net again at the second time of asking, before 1874’s Scott McGowan reduced the deficit with a chipped effort shortly after.

Dan Williams drilled home a TNS sixth in the 29th minute, before Cieslewicz scored a further two times before the interval to complete a superb hat-trick.

Goals arrived much more scarcely following the restart, but Jordan Williams got his name on the scoresheet in the 56th minute after a well-worked passing move.

Thirteen minutes later, substitute, Anise Jesus, scored a second for the visitors, before Josh Lock rounded off the goals, scoring in a second consecutive match, with a powerful left-footed strike 11 minutes from time.
