Ridge hat-trick, as Saints Women deliver a five star performance at Park Hall Stadium

The New Saints Women claimed a convincing 5-0 victory against Barry Town United at Park Hall Stadium to stay within reach of the leading pack in the Genera Adran Premier. 

Emily Ridge netted a hat-trick, while Beth Lewis got a brace from the penalty spot.

It is The New Saints’ biggest ever victory in the history of the Adran Premier.

Greg Draper’s team move up to third in the league standing’s following today’s win.

The New Saints had the first chance of the game in the 3rd minute, as Ella Hartley passed to Emily Ridge, who shot from the edge of the box, with the opportunity just going wide of the post.

Greg Draper’s side were on the attack once more in the 26th minute, where Hartley ran through the Barry Town defence and got a shot away from close-range that was palmed wide by Erin Brennan.

Past the half-hour mark, Lia Lewis played an over-the-top ball to Chloe Shirley, who shot from from inside the 18-yard-area, but Brennan ran out to make a stop from point-blank range.

Not too long later, Caitlin Chapman played in a cross that found Shirley at the back post, and the number 11 shot just wide of the post.

The Saints took in the first minute of added on time, as Shirley whipped in a ball that found Emily Ridge, who headed it home on the line.

Seconds after the restart, the Linnets went up the other end of the pitch through Taite Trivett, but the 19-year-old hit the ball off target from inside the penalty area.

In the 52nd minute, Trivett got on the end of a through ball from the visitors, and got an effort away from inside of the box, but opportunity went over the crossbar as The Saints remained ahead.

The Oswestry-based team went up the other end of the pitch to double the lead in the 66th minute. Shirley crossed in a ball that Chapman hit back towards the net, and Ridge converted from inches out.

Moments on, Barry went on the counter attack, as Aimee Deacon hit an effort from out a few yards out that Mackenzie Haydn-Jones saved. 

TNS got a third in the 82nd minute. Ridge was brought down in the box, and referee, Richard Wright pointed to the spot. Beth Lewis then converted from the spot by sending Brennan the wrong way.

Another penalty for Draper’s side followed in opening moments of stoppage time when Ridge was brought down, and Wright gave another penalty. Beth Lewis then stepped up once more, Brennan guessed the right way, but Beth Lewis sill converted past the keeper’s bottom-left.

The game had its final goal in the fifth minute of added on time. Substitute, Chantelle Teare crossed the ball in that found Ridge, who got the hat-trick from a couple of yards out to complete a brilliant day for the home team.
