The New Saints Women bowed out of the Genero Adran Trophy at the semi-final stage in a 3-1 loss to Cardiff City at Leckwith Stadium.
All the goals came in the second-half. Caitlin Chapman gave The New Saints the lead, before City hit back through Manon Pearce, Siobhan Walsh and Pheobie Poole.
It was a game that could have gone either way, as The Saints gave the Genero Adran Premier league leaders a run for their money throughout the encounter.
Cardiff City had the first chance in the seventh minute. An interception led to a ball being played to Pheobie Poole, however the Wales youth international missed from close range.
In the 15th minute, Lucie Green had an attempt from just inside the box for City that went off target.
Before the half-hour mark, Ffion Price whipped in a ball to Danielle Broadhurst, who headed wide in the box.
The New Saints had their first chance in the 37th minute, as Chantelle Teare put in a cross that found Dani Staley, who put the ball over the crossbar.
At the start of the second 45, Poole had an effort from 45-yards away that Parkes managed to catch.
The Saints took the lead in the 56th minute. Chapman put in a cross that found it’s way all the way into the net at the back post.
In the the 68th minute, Lockley brought down Danielle Green in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Poole stepped up moments later and hit the penalty off target.
The Bluebirds equalised in the 71st minute. Manon Pearce scored into the top net from the edge of the 18-yard area.
Iain Darbyshire’s team took the lead 11 minutes later. Ffion Price whipped in a ball that found Siobhan Walsh, who headed it into the net.
It was a third for the home team moments later, as Poole chipped Parkes from outside the box.
This was the last action of the day with the encounter ending 3-1 to Cardiff City.
TNS are next in action against Cardiff Met at Park Hall Stadium in two weeks time (February 26).
