The New Saints Women kept their survival challenge alive with another three valuable points over Barry Town United Ladies at Park Hall Stadium.

After a goalless first forty-five, The Saints came out firing in the second half through goals from Beth Lewis and Caitlin Chapman.

It was an even affair, in a game where Saints were the ones who took their opportunities.

The result leaves Andy Williams’ team just two points behind Port Talbot Town Ladies and Barry Town in the Adran Premier Plate standings, with two to play.

In the opening minutes of the match, Georgia Griffiths had an attempt from outside the 18-yard area, as the ball went over the crossbar.

A couple after, Grace O’Reilly had a shot from 20-yards out that went wide of Sarah Parkes’ net.

In the 12^th minute, Barry captain Lauren Harris crossed in a corner for the Dragons that found Taite Trivett in the box who had a header that hit the crossbar and went out for a goal-kick.

Eight later, Manon Pearce had an effort on the 18-yard line for the Linnets which hit the side netting.

In the 25^th, Lily Whitefoot ran through the Barry defence, in to the penalty area and shot wide of the post.

On the half-hour mark, Mackenzie Olden had an effort from outside the box for Josh Anderson’s side that deflected wide.

Four after, Trivett hit the ball from 20-yards out that deflected wide to Parkes who picked it up with ease.

A couple on, Chapman got on the end of a through ball and shot an opportunity from outside the box that just went over the net.

In the 39^th, O’Reilly hit an effort from outside the penalty area, however Parkes was there once more to pick up the ball comfortably.

Just before the break, Harrison had a shot in the box that hit the side netting.

At the start of the second forty-five, Andy Williams’ team took the lead. Griffiths took a free-kick from 19-yards away that was palmed on to the crossbar by Erin Brennan, as skipper Beth Lewis was there on the follow up to head the ball in to the net.

In the 52^nd up the other end of the pitch, Harris hit the crossbar from 35-yards and was cleared for a corner by the Saints defence.

Moments on, Harris whipped in a corner that found Megan Bowen who had a header that hit the crossbar as TNS managed to clear once more.

In the 57^th, Griffiths shot a free-kick from 19-yards away that was palmed away by Brennan and cleared by the Linnets defence.

Before the hour mark, Harrison ran in the box and shot as Brennan collected.

TNS doubled their lead in the 64^th minute. Harrison ran the ball down the right side of the pitch and passed it in the box to Chapman who slotted the opportunity past Brennan’s bottom-right corner and in to the net.

In the 78^th, Pearce hit an effort from 40-yards away for Barry that hit the crossbar, O’Reilly then had a follow up attempt in the box which went wide of the post.

Three on, Lockley cut inside a Barry defender and had a shot in the 18-yard area which just went wide of the near post.

A couple after, Trivett had an effort in the penalty-area that went over the bar.

Just before full-time, Harrison had a shot from close range that Brennan stopped.

TNS are next in action against Pontypridd Town Women at USW Sports Park in two weeks time (April 3^rd).
