Ahead of Sunday’s opening match in the Genero Adran Premier, The New Saints Women are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Annie Davies, subject to international clearance.
The 18-year-old arrives at Park Hall following two seasons at Stoke City Women, where she was part of the squad that won the FA Women's National League Reserve Midland Division title.
During her time at the club she regularly featured in first team matchday squads and trained consistently with the senior side, developing technically and tactically against high-quality opposition in a demanding professional environment.
A versatile performer capable of operating across a number of positions, Davies' preferred role is defensive midfield, where she is known for her organisation, ball recovery and distribution, as well as her leadership on the pitch.
The Saints’ newest recruit has also represented Wales at both U16s and U17s level, having come through the FAW Girls Academy North between the ages of 13 and 17.
Among the highlights of her international career to date is captaining Wales U17s against Denmark, an experience she credits with shaping her leadership qualities and reflecting the trust placed in her by national coaches.
Speaking after signing for The New Saints, Davies said: "I'm really excited to be joining The New Saints Women. I've worked hard over the past couple of years at Stoke and with Wales to keep improving as a player, and I can't wait to bring that experience into this squad, compete for a place and help the team push forward this season."
Head Coach Kieran Lee-Birch added: "We're buzzing to have Annie join us. She's a really mature, talented player with loads of energy, and that showed in her performances against Chester and Stockport County while she was on trial with us.
"Coming through Stoke City and representing Wales, she's played at a high calibre and brings real quality to our squad. Her signing concludes our transfer activity for this window, and it's been a really good one for us."
The New Saints Women get their Genero Adran Premier campaign underway on Sunday, September 6th, with a trip to Cardiff Met.
