The New Saints continued their pre-season preparations at Park Hall tonight with a behind-closed-doors friendly against Connah's Quay Nomads.
Following the UEFA Champions League draw earlier this week, there are now just 18 days until Craig Harrison's side travel to Azerbaijan, and the contest gave the Saints' head coach the opportunity to see his side in action against fellow European competitors.
It was the visitors who thought they'd made the breakthrough with 24 minutes on the clock when Hussein Mehasseb fired past Nathan Shepperd at the near post.
The offside flag was quickly raised, however, and following a VAR check, the goal was ruled out.
Harrison's men did make the breakthrough seven minutes before the break though, when Ben Clark was fouled by the Nomads goalkeeper.
Ben Wilson stepped up to take the resulting penalty, dispatching it well into the bottom right corner.
The Saints changed their entire starting line-up at half-time, giving Harrison the opportunity to cast his eyes over all the players at his disposal.
It didn't take long for the new-look side to make an impact, as Josh Lock added TNS' second from just outside the penalty area with a powerful left-footed strike.
A third goal arrived in the 57th minute when Brad Young dispossessed the goalkeeper inside the penalty area and slotted into the empty net.
The former Caernarfon man added his second of the night 11 minutes from time, beating several defenders on the right of the area, before sending a powerful finish into the roof of the net from the edge of the six-yard box.
It ended 4-0 in TNS's favour at Park Hall and proved another valuable test for the Saints as they prepare to face Azerbaijani champions Sabah next month.
