This weekend (February 8th), The New Saints Women travel to Leckwith Stadium to take on Cardiff City in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup quarter-finals.

Kieran Lee-Birch’s team go into this match following an 8-0 win against Pontypridd United in the Genero Adran Premier at USW Sport Park - The New Saints’ biggest ever league win.

Meanwhile, on the same day, Cardiff City defeated Aberystwyth Town 4-0 at Park Avenue.

The Bluebirds have reached the quarter-finals of the Welsh Cup after a 5-0 victory over Cardiff Met, and overcoming Trefelin 14-0 in the previous round.

It’s been no drama either for the Saints in getting to the last eight with a 10-0 win against Bangor at Park Hall, and a 7-0 victory at Cambrian at the M&P Group 3G.

In the last meeting between Saints and Cardiff, it was the side from the capital that won 3-0 in the semi-finals of the Genero Adran Trophy at Park Hall.

In the Adran Premier table, twelve points currently separate the teams, as Iain Darbyshire’s team are currently top on 35 points, while TNS are fourth on 23 points.

Both teams met in the semi-finals of the Welsh Cup, last season, when Cardiff won 1-0 at Park Avenue thanks to a Fiona Barry goal, before going on to defeat Wrexham in the final at Rodney Parade.

The officials for Sunday’s encounter are as follows: Joseph Gibson (referee), Brooklyn Lloyd-Meek and Lewys Evans (assistant referees), and Sam Lloyd (fourth official).

This weekend’s hosts are to wear all-dark blue and goalkeepers in all-pink.

TNS will wear the traditional green and white hooped shirt with green shorts and socks, with keepers in all-yellow.
